We don't just love making and watching football games - we love to play it too! Staff from SI play in multiple different teams on a weekly basis, ranging from 5-a-side lunchtime leagues (The SI A-F Teams) to full blown 11 a-side Sunday League football.
Below are a selection of these different teams.
The C team… not the best, but not the worst either! Currently punching above their weight in the Friday division (3rd-tier) and vying with the SI B Team for the title. Managed by PR Director Ciaran Brennan.
Perennial strugglers the D Team are known for their stodgy and often turgid performances, but are enjoying a renaissance under the stewardship of SI’s resident Football Guru, Alex Bell, in the lowest tier on Tuesday afternoons.
Manager Nav Dhanjal’s famed rotation policy (and flagrant disregard of squad rules) has helped the E’s get off to a surprisingly strong start in the league's bottom tier.
Michael Burling’s F Team have endured a poor inaugural season in the bottom tier. Burling, best known for an ill-fated spell in charge of the B Team (only spared relegation by another side quitting the league), now has another chance to guide an SI team to football glory.
Named after the myythical FM-legend Tó Madeira, a bunch of SI staff past and present deemed it fitting to establish a Sunday League football team in his name and honour.
