It is recommended that you regularly defragment your hard drive for optimum disk performance. Doing so could dramatically improve the performance of both Football Manager and Windows in general.
To defragment your hard drive do the following:
-
Click the "Start" menu
-
Click the "All Programs" menu ("Programs" on Windows 98/ME)
-
Click "Accessories",
-
then "System Tools"
-
and choose "Disk Defragmenter"
What you do now depends on the Windows version you are running.
Windows 98 or Millennium Edition:
-
Windows will ask you which drive (usually C:) you want to defragment.
-
Choose the drive (usually C:) and click "OK".
-
Windows will no defragment the drive you chose.
Windows 2000 or XP:
-
You will see a program called "Disk Defragmenter" running that lists all partitions and drives on your system (usually just C:).
-
Select a drive or paritition (usually C:) by clicking on it.
-
Now select the "Analyze" button at the bottom of the window.
-
Windows will now analyse your drive or partition and tell you if you should defragment it. If it recommends you to do so, select "Defragment".
If you have more than one drive or partition, it is recommended you follow the above steps for each drive and defragment all of them on a regular basis.
Please be aware that defragmenting your drive may take a long time - be patient and let it finish. You may want to run the defragmentation overnight to avoid any day to day interruptions.
