HOWTO: Change the skin back to the default Added on 24/10/2005 @ 19:29:19 Applies to FM 2006, FM 2005,
If you have experimented with any downloaded third-party skins or tried any skins other than the default one provided on the CD, but want to change back to the default, you can do this without resorting to re-installing the game in most cases. This might come in handy if the third-party skin is causing a problem that stops the game from playing normally.
1. From within the game
The easiest way to change skin is to do it from within the game Preferences (on the Options menu) itself. Choose another skin and click "Confirm".
2. Using the --skin command line option
If the skin you are running are causing problems that might stop you from changing the skin in the game preferences (or indeed running the game at all), you can run the game with a command line option to tell it to use a different skin.
Please refer to "HOWTO: Start the game with command line options" for details on how to use the command line options, and "FM2006 Command Line Options" for information about all the command line options available and details about the --skin option in particular. To run the game up with the default skin use the following command line option: --skin=metallic2006
3. Reset all game settings to default
You may have to reset all the game preferences to their default settings, which will force the game to load the default skin. To do so, please refer to "HOWTO: Reset the game settings"
4. Do a re-install
As a last resort you may have to re-install the game, in case somehow the data files for the game has become corrupted or someone has experimented on the default skins directly. To do so, please do the following:
-
Read "HOWTO: Reset the game settings" about how to clear the settings manually.
-
Click the "Start" menu, go to "Control Panel", and choose "Add/Remove Programs".
-
Uninstall Football Manager 2006.
-
Now re-install it from the CD.
-
Then apply the latest available patch.
-
Try to run the game.
