Commercial Operations Manager




Sports Interactive (SI) is the world’s leading developer of football management simulations through its Football Manager series of games. Working in the commercial team at Sports Interactive, this role reports to Head of Strategic Business Development and will work closely with the Studio Director and COO as well as with colleagues at SEGA HQ. This is a varied role in a regularly changing industry for an organised, reliable individual. As important as developing sustained long-term client relationships, the role will also focus on developing processes and ensure excellent operational execution. It will suit a “completer finisher” who takes great pride is seeing a job done well.

The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience in an operational/administrative or account management in a commercial area related to football, sports or data industries. Experience in media sales/mobile advertising is helpful but not essential.

This new role will evolve with our business and opportunities – so you will be able to make it what it needs to be and to take on more responsibility over time. This role is mainly office based at Here East in Stratford with regular London client meetings. Limited long-distance travel expected.



Areas of activity:

  • Support sourcing, onboarding and managing commercial partnerships
  • Support BidStack, our partner for delivering sponsorship and advertising into Football Manager PC games.
  • Manage direct and partnership sales via third party “white labels” (we have 22 club partnerships so far for FM19)
  • Identify opportunities for our Data, Research, Technology and Simulation assets – and ensuring delivery/client requirements are fulfilled.
  • Review, create and manage Licensing/merchandising programme for Sports Interactive Products (working with BSI Merch for FM19)
  • Consider new market/new language entry partnerships (Asia)

This role:

  • Works to annual financial targets according to the company accounting principles
  • Sets parameters and polices for allowable commercial exploitation
  • Supports new product ideas with input on commercial opportunities.
  • Represents the company at events, conferences, etc. with view of promoting longer term business opportunities
  • Keeps good tracking, documentation, files on all agreements – past, present and future
  • Oversees the operational delivery and client reporting for campaigns/promotions/etc.

Wider Company Contribution:

  • Key liaison to SEGA commercial departments for licensing and business development
  • Participate in cross company “special teams” as opportunities arise through the year
  • Build partnership/friendships with local community organisations that enhance SI reputation at HereEast, East London, in football, interactive entertainment, etc.



You will be:

  • Computer literate, able to make presentations, comfortable with excel and willing to learn new online tools & processes
  • Organised, a great communicator, reliable
  • Flexible and able to balance wide range of projects simultaneously
  • Football or games knowledge is not a prerequisite for the role
